The full experience
Marcus Bawdon comes to the North...
Take your outdoor cooking to another level with Marcus Bawdon in this hands-on exploration of pure wood-fired cooking. With no gas or electric, the focus is entirely on understanding and working with fire — learning how to build and manage a fire, create the right heat and make the most of embers, flames and different cooking positions.
The class focuses on Braai and Asado-style cooking, alongside a deep dive into fire-pit and open-fire techniques. You’ll learn how to cook directly over flames and embers, how to control heat without relying on a temperature dial, and how to use the fire itself as a cooking tool. Marcus will also share ideas and techniques for getting the most from simple fire-pit setups at home, drawing on his extensive experience of cooking outdoors with wood.
Expect plenty of hands-on cooking, great food and a relaxed atmosphere, with everyone getting involved rather than simply watching a demonstration. It’s designed for those who already have some BBQ experience and want to explore a more instinctive, traditional and exciting way of cooking outdoors.
Your ticket includes three hours of teaching and cooking, followed by an hour to sit down, enjoy the food you've cooked, have a drink, chat with the group and pick Marcus's brains.
